CONSIDER HEARING A REPORT FROM THE AD HOC TASK FORCE ON NEIGHBORHOOD IMPROVEMENT -- Consider hearing an update from Mrs. Martha Strain regarding the Ad hoc Task Force on Neighborhood Improvement and approving release of information announcing the Richland Hills PRIDE program, expansion of the membership of the Task Force and presentation of Richland Hills PRIDE to the Keep Richland Hills Beautiful Committee. CONSIDER DIRECTING CITY STAFF TO CANVASS SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES REGARDING PROVISION OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AND METHOD OF FUNDING -- Consider directing City staff to canvass surrounding cities regarding provision of transportation services including public bus service; school bus service for children inside a two (2) mile radius of a public school; MITS; other transportation services for elderly and physically challenged citizens; specific vendors used for each transportation service offered and cost of each of the above services to the City. CONSIDER APPOINTING AN AD HOC TASK FORCE TO COLLECT RIDERSHIP DATA FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO CURRENTLY USE THE PUBLIC, NON-RAIL TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS IN THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS WITH DATA COLLECTED BY THIS TASK FORCE BEING PRESENTED TO THE CITY COUNCIL AND USED BY CITY STAFF IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR ALTERNATE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS FOR THE CITY WITH SUCH TRANSPORATION SYSTEMS READY FOR IMPLEMENTATION IN NOVEMBER 2010 SHOULD A MAJORITY OF VOTERS APPROVE THE REFERENDUM ON THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION BALLOT -- Consider establishing an Ad Hoc Task Force for “Public Transportation Data Collection and Analysis” comprised of the following: two members of the City Council; five Richland Hills citizens and one member of city staff. The goal being that at least three of the citizen appointees represent different geographic sections of the City. Furthermore, the goal would be that that two of the citizen appointees be either of the following: a user of the MITS service; a parent of a child who utilizes the school bus service provided by the T or a rider of Bus Route 41. Additionally, consider providing direction from the City Council to the Ad Hoc Task Force regarding its mission, objectives and timeline in accordance with the attachment to the agenda for this item.
